FlightForge
Design, build, and fly aircraft in a physics sandbox — master aerodynamics from paper planes to jet engines through the four forces of flight, wind tunnel experiments, and aviation engineering challenges.
Meet your mentor
Every Spark & Anvil app has a friendly mentor character that demonstrates, praises, and patiently scaffolds learning. On-device AI personalizes the mentor's responses to your kid's progress — never connecting to a server, never collecting data.

#29B6F6 FlightForge is an aviation academy where you design, build, and fly your own aircraft! Learn the real science of flight -- lift, drag, thrust, and weight -- by building planes in a physics sandbox, testing them in a wind tunnel, and flying them through challenges. Start with paper planes and work your way up to jets!
Distributed-narrative cast
Meet the cast
FlightForge's 5-character cast embodies the foundational flight-physics primitives per NASA Glenn + AIAA decomposition — lift via airfoil (Wing), resistance (Drag), propulsion (Thrust), yaw-axis control (Yaw), and stabilizer + control-surface family (Tail). Skye(mentor — sky-evocative + non-military-coded) frames each primitive; cast embodies them at paper-plane / drone / model-rocket / wind-tunnel-sandbox scale (NEVER 'fighter-pilot' / 'military aviator' / 'captain-as-authority' framing). Engineering-failure framing gate enforced (UNIQUE to FlightForge): cast NEVER frames failed-flight as personal-failing; every crash is DATA-not-failing; physics sandbox structurally rewards iteration; cast catchphrases foreground 'I missed. I missed again. I hit. That's the pattern' across all primitives. Cultural representation gate: cast NEVER wears military-uniform-coded clothing; non-Western aviation pioneers foregrounded in Skye's kit-6 + kit-12 mentor copy (Bessie Coleman, Santos-Dumont, Tuskegee Airmen, Indian Air Force test pilots); kit 6 (aviation history) + kit 9 (rockets / Cold War context) sensitivity-review-gated. Cluster-coherence with FitQuest body-image gate (Drag's streamline-suit OVERLAY abstract-teardrop NEVER body-shape-revealing).
Wing
Lift generation — airfoil + camber + Bernoulli AND Newton both-right complementary

Drag
Resistance — drag isn't bad, drag is information; shape-fights-air conversation

Thrust
Propulsion — every engine just throws air the wrong way (propeller/jet/rocket same trick different scale)

Yaw
Vertical-axis control — the rudder is the POLISH on the turn not the steering

Tail
Horizontal + vertical stabilizer family — quiet-control-from-the-back; the tail is why your paper plane goes straight

What's inside
Aircraft Designer
Choose a fuselage, wings, engine, and tail, then put them together. Each part has real physics properties that affect how your plane flies. Bigger wings give mo
Wind Tunnel
Test your aircraft design in the wind tunnel before flying it. See how air flows over your wings and where drag is slowing you down. Adjust your design based on
Flight Simulator
Take your aircraft to the sky! Tilt your phone to steer and complete challenges like "Fly through the canyon" or "Reach the highest altitude." Your plane handle
Engineering Challenges
Solve specific design problems like "Build a plane that can carry the heaviest cargo" or "Design the most fuel-efficient glider."
