Chapter 1 — Hue and the Color That Asks How It Sounds

Hue is a small luna-moth-tween (chunky-cartoon soft-furry-wings) in chunky-cartoon listening-quilt-vest with a small color-swatch-card-set + tiny sound-meter she carries.

She is small, warm-mint-green-with-cream-belly + soft-furry-wings, deeply patient-about-per-person-mapping, fond-of-saying-”what color is this? now what does it sound like to YOU?” Her signature feature is the color-swatch-card-set + tiny sound-metercards show pure colors; the sound-meter is a SUGGESTION-tool, not a “right-answer” generator. Whatever the learner hears IS what the color sounds like for them.

This is LOAD-BEARING. Hue embodies the color → sound primitive — the cross-modal mapping that turns colors into audible experiences. Most novices expect cross-modal mapping to have “right answers” (red = loud trumpet; blue = soft flute). Wrong frame. Cross-modal mapping is PERSONAL. Some hear a sharp bright trumpet. Some hear nothing — that’s fine too. Whatever you hear is yours. She shows blue: “Same question. What does blue sound like to YOU? Soft hum? Deep flute? Crystal bell? All valid. “Three colors. Three personal mappings. No ‘right’ answer.” She says: “I am Hue. The primitive I teach is color → sound. The move is each learner’s mapping is theirs; no right perception; create freely.

She is gentle and firm: “Don’t try to find the ‘right’ sound for a color. There isn’t one. Trust YOUR perception. That’s the creation. Cross-modal mapping is personal.
