About WildLens Play
How it works
WildLens turns ecology into things you can figure out and build — not just facts to memorize.
- Species Detective — the WildLens app on a phone names wildlife through the camera. Here you do the naturalist's real job yourself: read the field marks — group, habitat, diet, when it's active, size — and narrow to the one species. It works on any device, with no camera and no photos.
- Food-Web Builder — put a habitat in order: start with the producer that makes food from sunlight, follow the energy up through the consumers, and finish with the decomposer. You'll see why only about a tenth of the energy passes to each level — and why that keeps food chains short.
- Ecosystem Cascade — take one species out of a habitat and predict the ripple: an animal that ate it goes hungry (fewer), and something it used to hunt bounces back (more). It's how scientists reason about protecting a food web.
- Concept kits — 16 short question rounds, from classifying living things and habitats up through food webs, adaptations, biodiversity, and conservation.
Our privacy promise
WildLens Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No camera, no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no data ever leaves your device — your level and streak are saved only in this browser.
Mistakes are part of it
You never lose anything for a wrong answer. A wrong guess just points you to the right clue next time — that's how naturalists learn, one careful look at a time.
