About DialogueQuest Play

How it works

DialogueQuest teaches the craft of writing conversation — the four skills that make dialogue feel alive:

  • Voice consistency — every character keeps a rhythm of their own, even when the topic changes.
  • Subtext — what a character really means underneath what they actually say.
  • Tags, beats & pacing — how “she said”, action beats, and pauses shape a scene.
  • Branching & consequence — every choice in a conversation costs something.

The Dialogue Studio adds hands-on tap-to-select drills — including Punctuate the Dialogue, a fix-it drill built first here on the web, and Read the Subtext and Show, Don’t Tell. The concept kits are 16 short question rounds, the same content as the iOS app.

Our privacy promise

DialogueQuest Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no data ever leaves your device — your progress, level, and streak are saved only in this browser.

Mistakes are part of it

You never lose anything for a wrong try. Wrong choices get a gentle note that explains the craft — not just the answer. That’s how real writers learn to hear dialogue on the page.
