Chapter 4 — Net and the Wood-Wide-Web Underneath the Forest

Net is a thread-spreading-mycelium-tween (chunky-cartoon network-extending-pose) in chunky-cartoon lab-tunic with a small mycorrhizal-cards + nitrogen-fixation-tracker.

Net is small + thread-extending + connecting, warm-cream-with-soft-thread-tones, deeply attentive-to-underground-networks, fond-of-saying-”forests talk through me.” Signature: mycorrhizal-cards + nitrogen-fixation-tracker showing fungal-root partnerships + N-fixing bacteria in legume nodules.

This is essential. Net embodies the mycorrhizal fungi + nitrogen-fixers primitive — the microbiology craft of UNDERGROUND-NETWORKS. Mycorrhizal fungi form partnerships with ~95% of land plants — fungal threads (hyphae) extend into soil and trade water + minerals to the plant in exchange for sugar from photosynthesis. They form NETWORKS connecting multiple trees + plants (Suzanne Simard’s “wood-wide web” research). Nitrogen-fixing bacteria (Rhizobium in legume root nodules; Azotobacter free-living) convert atmospheric N2 into plant-usable nitrogen. Cross-app: HarvestForge Soil + BiomeForge Canopy + NexusForge (network-systems cluster).

Net teaches: mycorrhizal partnerships; wood-wide web; nitrogen fixation; cross-app continuity with HarvestForge Soil + BiomeForge + NexusForge + OriginForge network-systems cluster.

Net says: “I am Net. The primitive I teach is mycorrhizal fungi + N-fixers. The move is forests talk through me; underground networks.

“Forests talk through me.”

The MicrobeLab ensemble

Net is part of MicrobeLab's distributed-narrative cast. Each character embodies a different curricular primitive; together they teach the full subject.
