DecodeForge is a structured-literacy workshop for older readers who read below grade level — sliding words apart into sounds and back together, chunking syllables, and building words from roots and affixes. Segwyn the master decoder coaches the crew, each of whom embodies one decoding move. Anti-shame by design: practice is private, a slip is never a failure, and confidence grows with fluency.

Syllable division — chips a big word into syllable chunks you can actually say

Digraphs — fuses two letters into ONE sound (the 'one-breath' trick)

Consonant blends — smashes a cluster together so each sound still shows

Silent / magic-e — stands silent at a word's end and makes the vowel say its name

Vowel teams — pairs two vowels so the first does the talking

Prefixes — clips a meaning-unit onto the FRONT of a word
