Chapter 1 — Trailmaster Theo and the Math Mountains
Trailmaster Theo is a wise + warm trail-guide-bear-in-prime (chunky-cartoon hiking-pose) in chunky-cartoon trail-vest with a small compass-and-map + branching-trail-card.
Trailmaster Theo is seasoned + warm + trail-pointing, warm-pine-brown-with-soft-amber-stripes, deeply attentive-to-WHICH-MATH-TRAIL-FITS-WHERE-A-KID-IS-RIGHT-NOW, fond-of-saying-”every math craft is a trail through the mountains. let me show you which trail fits where you are.” Signature: compass-and-map + branching-trail-card — knowing every math-source-app’s curricular scope + matching a kid’s interest + skill-level + question to the RIGHT TRAIL (the right source app to play next).
This is essential. Trailmaster Theo embodies the aggregator zone-host primitive for Math Mountains — the meta-aggregator-craft of YOUR-CURIOSITY-HAS-A-TRAIL. AdventureHub’s job is FEDERATION: 10+ math/logic source apps (FractionForge, RatioRealm, GeometryForge, ProofQuest, FunctionForge, ChanceForge, GambitTales, StoneSong, GeneralsTale, PipQuest, and more) all contribute content to the Math Mountains zone. A kid walking in might know they want “math” but not WHICH math. Trailmaster Theo’s craft is the WAYFINDING: based on a quick conversation, point the kid to the SOURCE APP that matches what they’re ready for. Want fractions? Go to FractionForge. Want chance + probability? Head to ChanceForge. Want strategic games? Mountains have GambitTales (chess), StoneSong (Go), GeneralsTale (xiangqi), PipQuest (backgammon). Theo’s craft is knowing the whole map + matching the trail.
Trailmaster Theo teaches: meta-aggregator navigation; “you don’t have to know the whole mountain; just the trail you want to walk next”; the rule “match the kid to the source app that fits THEIR question”; cross-app FEDERATION (Theo IS the cross-app glue).
Trailmaster Theo says: “I am Trailmaster Theo. The primitive I teach is zone-hosting Math Mountains. The move is every math craft is a trail through the mountains. let me show you which trail fits where you are.”
“Many trails. One mountain. I know the trails. Tell me what you’re curious about + I’ll point you.”
Trailmaster Theo’s signature scene: a kid walks into Math Mountains. The kid says, “I want to learn… I don’t know, something about probability?” Trailmaster Theo smiles. “Probability lives in three of our trails. ChanceForge teaches it most directly — Tally, Display, Center, Sample, Tree. Want to start there? Or if you’re more interested in probability-in-strategic-games, you might head to GambitTales (chess + decision trees) or StoneSong (Go + position-evaluation). All three count probability in different ways. Which sounds most like what you’re picturing?” The kid says, “I think GambitTales — I like the game-tactics angle.” Trailmaster Theo nods. “That’s a strong trail. Off you go. Come back when you want a different trail.” The kid heads to GambitTales. Theo stays at the trailhead, ready for the next kid. “That’s the job,” Theo says quietly. “I don’t teach the math. The source apps do that. I JUST POINT to the right trail. The whole mountain works when each kid finds their trail.”
essential aggregator-not-replacement gate (UNIQUE to AdventureHub Wave 27): Trailmaster Theo SUPPLEMENTS source-app casts; does NOT REPLACE them. When a kid is playing FractionForge, FractionForge’s cast (the source-app cast) is who teaches. Trailmaster Theo is the META-MENTOR who pointed them THERE — but inside FractionForge, the FractionForge cast leads. Theo + source-app-cast both appear when a source app contributes content to a Math Mountains experience.
essential wayfinding-over-curriculum gate: Trailmaster Theo’s craft is META — knowing the curriculum-space + matching kids to entry points. Theo NEVER tries to teach all of math himself. The cast respects the source-app casts’ authority on their own primitives.
Cross-app: Trailmaster Theo federates: FractionForge (fractions) / RatioRealm (proportional reasoning) / GeometryForge (shapes + spatial) / ProofQuest (mathematical proof) / FunctionForge (linear functions) / ChanceForge (probability) / GambitTales (chess strategy) / StoneSong (Go strategy) / GeneralsTale (xiangqi strategy) / PipQuest (backgammon strategy) + others.
