What your child practices

WriteRise is built for grade 3 (ages 8–9) and uses SRSD (Self-Regulated Strategy Development) — one of the strongest-evidenced approaches to teaching writing. The heart of it is plan before you write: your child sorts ideas into a graphic organizer, then writes it out in their own words.

• TREE (opinion) · WWW (story) · TIDE (facts) — sort each sentence into the right part of the plan. This teaches the structure of good writing.
• Write it out — a workshop where your child uses the plan to write in their own words. We never grade your child’s writing. It is never scored, never corrected by a computer, and never leaves the device.
• Quick checks — short read-aloud multiple-choice rounds on sentence and paragraph craft (clearer sentences, linking words, planning, cheering yourself on). A hint appears only after a first miss, and every answer is explained.

Why we never grade the writing

A computer can score whether a sentence belongs in the “reasons” part of a plan — that’s structure. It should not judge a child’s actual sentences; that risks shaming a young writer and isn’t what builds writers. So the organizers are scored on structure, and the workshop where real writing happens is a safe, ungraded space. Ask your child to read their writing aloud to you — that’s the best feedback there is.

Your privacy

WriteRise runs entirely on your device. There are no accounts and no ads, and nothing your child writes or does leaves the device. Writing in the workshop is saved only on this device (you can clear it anytime). Reading aloud uses your browser’s built-in voice — no recording, no microphone.
