Privacy & how it works
TrailForge on the web is built the same way as our iOS apps: private by design.
Everything stays on this device
Your progress — best scores and XP — is stored only in this browser (on-device storage). It is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and it's gone; nobody else can see it.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no location
There is no sign-up and no login. There are no ads and no in-app purchases, and no third-party trackers. Unlike the iOS field app, the web version never uses your location or the internet for weather — you practice the survival skills (finding north, choosing priorities, building in order) with built-in field scenarios.
Built for ages 9–14
The 400 questions come straight from the TrailForge iOS app. The two field labs ask you to PREDICT before the answer is revealed — the best-evidenced way to learn — with a hint only after a first try. Emergencies are shown as calm decisions to think through, never as scary situations, and a wrong choice is just part of learning.
Real skills, credited fairly
Wilderness navigation and survival draw on knowledge that outdoor communities and traditions have carried for a very long time. TrailForge teaches the widely-shared techniques (reading the sun and stars, the Rule of 3s, building and filtering) as skills to practice — never as anyone's secret to take.
Spark & Anvil is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Apps stay free forever. This page is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. Always practice real wilderness skills with a trusted adult, and never substitute a game for proper training, a map, and a compass.
