What your child practices

SciQuest is built for grade 3 (ages 8–9) and follows the NGSS grade-3 topics: forces & motion, magnetism, life cycles, inherited traits, traits & survival, weather & climate, and fossils. The heart of it is Predict-Observe-Explain: your child makes a prediction first, then sees what really happens, then hears the reason. Making (and correcting) a prediction is one of the strongest ways to learn science.

• Force Lab — two pushes act on one object; predict whether it moves left, right, or stays balanced. Teaches balanced vs unbalanced forces (NGSS 3-PS2).
• Survival Lab — an animal sits in a habitat; predict whether it blends in or stands out. Teaches how an inherited trait like camouflage helps an animal survive (NGSS 3-LS4).
• Weather Lab — a place’s usual pattern vs a single day; predict typical or unusual. Teaches the difference between weather (one day) and climate (the long pattern) (NGSS 3-ESS2).
• Quick checks — short read-aloud multiple-choice rounds across all the topics. A wrong answer maps to a real science misconception (for example, “a force runs out” or “all metals are magnetic”), so the choices teach; a hint appears only after a first miss, and every answer is explained.

Play together — and go easy

Everything is read aloud, so a transitional reader can play on their own — and it’s better with you nearby. There are no timers and no way to “fail”: a wrong prediction is the whole point, and the lab shows what really happens kindly and moves on. Ask your child “why do you think that?” before they predict.

Your privacy

SciQuest runs entirely on your device. There are no accounts and no ads, and nothing your child does leaves the device. A little progress (a level and a streak) is saved just on this device. Reading aloud uses your browser’s built-in voice — no recording, no microphone.
