Privacy & how it works
SaffronLab on the web is built the same way as our iOS apps: private by design.
Everything stays on this device
Your progress — best scores, XP and streak — is stored only in this browser (on-device storage). It is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and it's gone; nobody else can see it.
The labs run right here
The Technique Lab and Kitchen Safety game are pure on-device logic — the Maillard reaction always needs the same temperature, water always boils at 100 °C, and the Danger Zone is always 40 °F to 140 °F. There's no server, no simulator in the cloud, and no AI that sees what you do. You predict first, then the lab shows you what really happens.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
There is no sign-up and no login. There are no ads and no in-app purchases. There are no third-party trackers embedded in the app.
Food, bodies & culture — handled with care
SaffronLab is about the SCIENCE of food, not diets. Nutrition is framed as fuel and balance — never "good" or "bad" foods, never body-image or appearance. Recipes and examples draw on cooking traditions from around the world, treated with equal respect, and include low-cost ingredient swaps so the science is for everyone.
Built for ages 9–14
The 400 concept questions come straight from the SaffronLab iOS project and are aligned to NGSS science standards. A hint appears only after a first try — you think it through first, and mistakes are treated as part of learning. The iOS app also has features that need a phone — a Socratic AI chef mentor, precision gesture mini-games, haptic feedback and a restaurant/adventure mode — that stay on iOS; the web version focuses on the food science, the safety reasoning and the predictions.
