What your child practices

ReadPals teaches reading the way the research says it works best — Structured Literacy: explicit, step-by-step phonics where every reading page uses only the sounds your child has already learned, so they sound it out instead of guessing from the picture.

  • Sound Blend — tap the letter-sounds in order and slide them together into a word (blending is the core of reading).
  • Digraph Map — spot the two letters that make one sound: sh, ch, th, wh, ck, ng.
  • Magic-e Vowels — add a silent e so the vowel says its name: cap → cape, kit → kite.
  • Build the Word — hear a word, then tap the sounds to spell it (the flip side of reading).
  • Decodable Reader — read a short connected page and tap any word to hear it.
  • Read Along — read along while Lark models smooth, sing-song reading (fluency).

Read together

These activities are lovely side by side. Say the sounds out loud together, point at the letters, and celebrate the tries. There's no timer and no racing — reading is for thinking, not speed.

Mistakes are welcome

Blip never says "wrong". A tricky sound just gets a warm "let's say it again", and every round finishes with encouragement about the effort. Big buttons and simple words are made for little hands and new readers.

Our privacy promise

ReadPals Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no data ever leaves this device — your child's stars and streak are saved only in this browser. Word sounds are spoken by your device's own voice; nothing is sent anywhere.
