LetterLoops — for grown-ups
LetterLoops helps children ages 3–5 form letters and numbers by tapping the dots in order, one stroke at a time. Forming a letter — not just recognizing it — is what builds the brain pathways that later support reading: research on young children found the reading network was recruited by producing letters, not by watching or tracing them passively.
On the web, children tap the numbered dots in order to build each stroke; on iPad with Apple Pencil, the app adds free-form letter writing. Every activity is spoken aloud, uses big buttons, and has no wrong answers — a mis-tap is a gentle "start at the glowing dot," never a failure.
- Make a Letter — form mixed letters and numbers.
- Straight Lines — vertical and horizontal strokes (l, t, i, H, E).
- Curves & Loops — round letters and numerals (o, c, s, 8).
- Say & Make — say the sound while forming the letter (multisensory).
