About HarvestForge Play
How it works
The HarvestForge app runs a living farm with an animated field and real weather from where you live. This web version teaches the science and the systems behind it — the decisions, the journey, and the ideas — no app required.
- Crop-Rotation Lab — look at a field (last season's crop + how much nitrogen is in the soil), then predict the harvest for the crop you want to plant. You find out why heavy feeders like corn go hungry in tired soil, why legumes like beans and clover feed the soil back, and how rotating crop families beats the pests.
- Supply-Chain Trace — follow a loaf of bread, a carton of milk, an apple, and a jar of sauce from the farm to the table, and name the farmers, plant workers, and drivers whose hands carry it. Food connects the people who grow it to the people who eat it.
- Concept kits — 16 short question rounds, from soil and seeds and water to sustainable farming, food justice, farm economics, and the future of food.
Food is a system, not a scoreboard
HarvestForge is honest about how food works. Who gets to eat is decided by systems — where stores are built, what land and water cost, how food gets shipped — never by whether a family "deserves" it. Farms are working places tended by real people, not shiny postcards. There are no winners and losers here, just your own next decision.
Our privacy promise
HarvestForge Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no location or weather data, and no data ever leaves your device — your progress, level, and streak are saved only in this browser.
Mistakes are part of it
You never lose anything for a wrong try. In the Crop-Rotation Lab, committing to a prediction first — even a wrong one — is exactly what makes the reason stick. Meet the whole cast — Seed, Soil, Chain, Share, and Steward — on the cast page.
