Privacy & how it works
DepthQuest on the web is built the same way as our iOS apps: private by design.
Everything stays on this device
Your progress — best scores and XP — is stored only in this browser (on-device storage). It is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and it's gone; nobody else can see it.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
There is no sign-up and no login. There are no ads and no in-app purchases, and no third-party trackers. Unlike the iOS app's submarine explorer, the web version teaches the same ocean science (how pressure, light and temperature change with depth; which adaptations fit which zone) with built-in labs — no device sensors needed.
Built for ages 9–14
The 400 questions come straight from the DepthQuest iOS app and are aligned to NGSS science standards. The two ocean labs ask you to PREDICT before the answer is revealed — the best-evidenced way to learn science — with a hint only after a first try. Mistakes are treated as part of learning.
Care for the ocean, with hope
DepthQuest touches real challenges like coral bleaching, ocean acidification, and plastic pollution. We frame these through what science and communities can DO — protecting reefs, cutting pollution, restoring habitats — and through the amazing life that thrives at every depth. There's no doom here, just wonder, evidence, and hope-forward action. If any of it feels heavy, it's always okay to take a break or talk it over with a grown-up you trust.
