What your child practices

CompassQuest is built for grade 3 (ages 8–9) and follows the C3 social-studies framework across four strands: geography, economics, history, and civics/inquiry. Each strand has a hands-on tool.

• Map Reader (geography) — read a grid map with a compass rose and find directions. North is up.
• Trade Sorter (economics) — sort things into needs (to live) and wants (nice to have).
• Timeline (history) — put events in time order: first, next, then, last.
• Source Detective (civics/inquiry) — tell a fact you can check from an opinion someone feels.
• Quick checks — short read-aloud rounds across all the strands. A hint appears only after a first miss, and every answer is explained.

Non-partisan by design

CompassQuest teaches how to think — how to read a map, weigh needs and wants, order events, and tell fact from opinion — never what to think. Examples stay away from politics and contested claims; the fact-vs-opinion tool uses everyday examples (weather, animals, food) so a child learns the skill, not a position.

Your privacy

CompassQuest runs entirely on your device. No accounts, no ads, nothing your child does leaves the device. A little progress (a level and a streak) is saved only on this device. Reading aloud uses your browser’s built-in voice — no recording, no microphone.
