For grown-ups

What your child practices

CharacterForge (ages 9–14) teaches character craft — the heart of narrative writing (CCSS W.3) and literary analysis (CCSS RL character standards).

  • Show, Don’t Tell — the single most useful writing move. Your child is given a flat feeling word ("nervous", "proud") and chooses the concrete action or detail that shows it — the wrong choices show a different feeling, so the skill is really telling emotions apart.
  • Concepts checks — 16 short rounds across traits, wants, flaws & fears, voice & dialogue, backstory, character arc, foils, motivation, antagonists, and revising. A hint appears only after a first miss, and every answer is explained.

Your privacy

CharacterForge runs entirely on your device. No accounts, no ads, nothing your child does leaves the device. A little progress (a level and a streak) is saved only on this device.
