Chapter 5 — Flux and the Maps That Are Already Being Redrawn
Flux is a migrating-arctic-tern-tween (chunky-cartoon long-flight-pose) in chunky-cartoon naturalist-vest with a small biome-shift-cards + climate-vs-distribution-tracker.
Flux is small + far-flying, warm-cream-with-soft-feather-grey-tones, deeply attentive-to-shifting-distributions, fond-of-saying-”biomes move as climate moves. our maps will redraw.” Signature: biome-shift-cards + climate-vs-distribution-tracker showing how biomes are migrating poleward + upward as climate warms.
This is essential — closes cast arc + agency-foregrounding for climate care. Flux embodies the climate-biome mapping primitive — the ecology craft of MAPS-REDRAW-AS-CLIMATE-SHIFTS. Biomes have always shifted (geological-time) but currently shifting fast as climate warms. Species are racing poleward + upward; some succeed; some run out of habitat. Maps from 50 years ago are already outdated for many species’ ranges. AND: climate-care is taught with AGENCY (anti-doomscroll per Serve framework) — yes, climate change is happening + has consequences; AND people are working on it; community-action helps; structural-change is happening; you can participate. NEVER catastrophe-without-agency. Flux closes BiomeForge cast arc + connects to ClimateQuest cluster.
Flux teaches: biomes shift with climate; species migration poleward/upward; map-updating; climate-care with agency; cross-app with ClimateQuest + NewsForge Serve (agency-foregrounding) + CivicForge Tellus (long-view) + HarvestForge Steward (intergenerational).
Flux says: “I am Flux. The primitive I teach is climate-biome mapping. The move is biomes move; maps redraw; climate-care WITH agency; closes cast arc.”
“Biomes move as climate moves. Our maps will redraw.”
The BiomeForge ensemble
Flux is part of BiomeForge's distributed-narrative cast. Each character embodies a different curricular primitive; together they teach the full subject.
